Generation Y – Generation Y is known as the Millennial Generation, and also is known as Generation Next. This is the demographic of individuals who were born in the period immediately following Generation X. The members of this demographic are often referred to as Millennials, and are also called echo boomers. While there has not been an agreement on a range of dates that will include the individuals from the generation, many considering the generation to begin sometime in the early 1980′s and continue through the early 2000′s. Others have stated that they believe that the 80′s belong solely to Generation X, and that Generation Y only consists of individuals that are born in the 90s and 2000s.

The term refers more to a mind state than a certain period of time, though. Generation Y is considered by most to be individuals who grew up with all of the things that many of us did not grow up with, including the Internet and 3D video games. Much of generation X grew up without the Internet, or first saw the Internet at some point in their child hood.

Studies of these people often show different results in mind state from individuals that were born in other generations. There are many different reasons for this. Some have said that the fact that we as people are exposed to so much information on a daily basis, that people who grow up surrounded by this information are likely going to have a slightly different outlook on life than other individuals.
