Google Pacman High Score? Play Google Pac-Man

May 23, 2010 by · 2 Comments

Google Pacman High Score? Play Google Pac-Man – Google surprised the world yesterday when they included a playable Pac Man game on their logo to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the release of the game. It was a fun and interesting way to pay tribute to a game that caused a giant leap forward in technology. Websites joked about how unproductive offices around the world would be because of the playable Pac Man game that they were able to access through Google. Surprisingly, some companies did make comments about the productivity in the office being down, half jokingly stating that their bandwidth usage was down too, because users spent far more time on Google.com.

A number of other users had problems getting the sound to turn off, even after exiting the Google page. It appears that the game may have confused and frustrated some users who were not aware of how to play, or how to quit playing once they started. However, most people thought that the game was a great way to pay tribute to one of the more popular technology advancements that we have seen. The video gaming industry is part of the reason why so many people were introduced to technology in the early days of console and PC among.

Some have wondered if Google would be willing to do the same for other upcoming anniversaries, like Tetris. There may be a chance, but Google is known for mixing it up and keeping it interesting. They likely would not do the same thing twice to commemorate these games.

Google did a Tetris logo last year for their 25th anniversary, changing the letters to look like the pieces. It wasn’t playable, however.
