Michael Douglas Blames Fame For Cameron ‘Screwups’ – Michael Douglas’ son Cameron has been struggling to find his place in the world and recently Michael has said that his fame is what is to blame for Cameron’s screw-ups. Michael as well as other family members have written a letter to a federal judge asking for some leniency in his son Cameron’s case. The letter is said to be five pages in length and Douglas has outlines how the fame in his family as well as their many drug and alcohol abusers had an impact on Cameron. He says that all of the substance abuse as well as their fame put Cameron on the wrong path and he has fallen off track in his life.
Douglas said that “He is an adult and responsible for his own actions. We do know, however, that genes, family and peer pressure are a strong influence on a substance abuser.”
It doesn’t help when you are given all the money and fame that you could ever ask for at such a young age. Showbiz has a terrible affect on some people. Douglas also wrote that “I have some idea of the pressure of finding your own identity with a famous father. I’m not sure I can comprehend it with two generations to deal with.” The Wall Street star also said that his own upbringing could have helped him deal with the situation real well and his bad marriage with his first wife Diandra had a bad affect on Cameron as well. Michael said that he sort of left his son without a real male influence in his life and Cameron found his family with the gang mentality. Cameron was hooked on drugs at age 13 and refused to go to rehab which has just spiraled out of control.
Cameron was sent to prison for five years on drug charges after being arrested in August last year in a New York hotel with large quantities of methamphetamine in his possession.
