iPads Universities Ban

Universities Ban iPads – Just like all the other latest gadgets, high schools, community colleges, and universities are finding them a distraction to the pupils but that might not be the only problem the iPad has presented. The Apple iPad has seen loads of success and its design, interface, and functionality are said to be the best of its class. However, some people aren’t seeing it as the magnificent device that it has been marketed to be. Some American universities are having real issues with the iPad on the schools network. The wi-fi version of the iPad allows users to connect to other wi-fi networks which seems to be causing a problem. It comes not from how successful the iPad has been but with the way the iPad is programmed to connect to the internet. Princeton University in New Jersey is just one of the schools that is reporting that they have had to block iPads being allowed on campus because of “malfunctions that can affect the entire school’s computer system.”
A representative of Princeton told reporters that the iPad is causing DHCP issues with client malfunctions and that basically means that the iPad is creating a disturbance to the other devices that are connected to the school’s wi-fi network. Princeton has tried to control the problem by blocking the iPads that have been interfering with the connection. Another school in Washington D.C. known as George Washington University also is experiencing big network issues with the iPad. Their problems are said to not be related with DHCP malfunctions though. They said that their current wi-fi network simply is not updated to support iPhone and iPad connections and that the devices will be blocked by the universities in order for things to stay operable.
