Aoi Sola Twitter:Chinese Great Firewall – Over the past several weeks we have witnessed thousands of Chinese people who are jumping the “Great Firewall” known as China’s cyber blockade on sensitive Internet content. They aren’t there to crack down on everyone and make things into a democracy though. Human rights in Taiwan and independence websites are still in tact. However, they are after a Japanese porn star that is causing a huge disturbance. Her name is Aoi Sola and she was featured on a Twitter page just at the end of March. All of her Chinese followers and fans went absolutely crazy about the news but then they all discovered that Twitter is blocked in China so they couldn’t see their local star.
The latest craze in China is going around with everyone distributing software that is allowing them to break through the “Great Firewall” and witness Aoi Sola on the Internet. There have been thousands of people from China logging into her Twitter city recently and the big interest revolving around her took the Japanese star by complete surprise. She didn’t expect everyone to be so fixated on her work. She wrote to the reporters, “what sparked so much discussion abut me by Chinese people? What happened? Please tell me.” With so many people going to her Twitter homepage it just shows how the Chinese can become determined to do something and will put their worries aside to fight for their independence. It was interesting to see what actually motivated the Chinese people to risk their lives to get on the internet. David Wolf told us that “In China, you can get anything. You want on the Internet, you just have to want it bad enough.”
