Goliath Tiger Fish

April 3, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Goliath Tiger Fish – Up until now, not many people actually know what a Goliath Tiger Fish really is, that is because it is an extremely rare species, and a beautiful one at that. The fish is usually found in the Candy Rock Mountain, in the Congo stream and surrounding areas.

The look of a Goliath Tiger Fish is extremely distinctive. Usually they will have a old school red or rustic looking body and can come in all shapes and sizes. Enthusiasts have found that they can sometimes grow anything up to 24 inches in length, which is extremely big for a Congo fish. A fish this big is not one that you want to be messing with unless it is on the end of a rod!

It actually has many similarities to that of the Rainbow Trout, although the coloring is totally different. Some locals have suggested that the rivers that the Goliath Tiger Fish roam today, were once fill by rainbow and brook trout, but they are now becoming a lot scarcer.

According to researchers, the fish has actually built up a resistance to Sulfer, the only fish that is known to have done this before. This means that it can live in water that has been contaminated by the substance in comfort, rather than dying like most other fish.

The fish are said to inhabit an area that is 1.4 miles in length across two streams, although the exact Geographic’s of where they reside is not known. According to researchers, this is a fish that is scarce, and only resides in this part of the world.
