Rickey Smiley Morning Show – Rickey Smiley is a fairly popular standup comedian who has also worked as a television host and an actor over his successful career. In recent years he has found success as a radio personality. He first was able to garner attention for his radio shows by making hilarious prank phone calls to everyday people and to celebrities in order to further his career. In most of the calls that made him famous, Smiley is using a voice changer to disguise his voice. He first started working for KBFB radio in Dallas, Texas in April 2004. The show covers a variety of topics including the prank calls that were able to make Rickey Smiley so well known, as well as pop culture information, with a focus on all of the latest news and information as it relates to hip hop music.
Smiley also hosted BET’s ComicView in 2000. While his run on the program may have been short, he was still able to garner interest in himself as a personality and as a comedian through his work on the show. He has worked for a number of other networks, and also has appeared in a number of other programs including HBO’s “Snaps” and “Uptown Comedy Club.” Smiley prides himself in the fact that he is one of the few African American comedians who is considered to be “clean.” Instead of using vulgarity to draw laughs from his crowds, Smiley is able to make them laugh using old fashioned jokes and every day life humor that has been so vacant in African American comedians in recent years. His morning show is considered to be a success by all those involved, and it was not immediately clear what Smiley’s plans are for the future. It is expected that he will be a growing presence on KBFB radio for the foreseeable future.
