Moscow Bombing Subway Lubyanka Metro

Moscow Bombing Subway Lubyanka Metro – Moscow was recently a victim of a suicide bombing terrorist attack. It has been quite some time since the area has been involved in a large scale terror attack such as this, but they do have a storied past in dealing with these types of threats. The attack took place in a subway, during the busiest time of the day for the subway system. While one bomb went off in the subway itself, another went off just below secret police headquarters. There were at least 37 who were killed in the blast, with nearly twice as many who were hurt and injured in the blasts. Russia has not seen any attacks that would be comparable to this in the last five years.

The attacks may be in retaliation for the deaths of a few different Islamic leaders in North Caucasus in recent weeks. The leaders were reportedly killed by police, specifically secret police who had the bomb go off beneath their headquarters. Most have written the bombings off as retaliation for the deaths of the Islamic militant leaders, but others are not so sure.

The bombs went off, and smoke and debris filled the tunnels and the skyline above the bombings, making it hard for rescue workers to help and get to those who were injured. It is expected that more individuals who were injured in the bombing could pass away before the entire ordeal is said and done. The city has not declared a state of emergency, but has said that they are on high alert for any more bombings that could potentially be taking place in the area. Russia has been especially aggressive with these groups in recent months, and the recent rise in violence could be directly connected to the way the authorities have been handling the militant groups in the area.
