Apple iPad Launch Best Buy – Best Buy is preparing for what figures to be a large launch of the new Apple iPad in the coming days and weeks. It was not immediately clear exactly how many units are expected to be sold on the first day, but on the first day that the device was available for pre-order, it was able to sell 120,000 copies in less than 24 hours. Only the Apple store was allowed to sell pre-orders of the device, so the launch for larger chains such as Best Buy will also be on the day of release. It is expected that the iPad will sell very well in the first few days of its release. The other day Apple opened up their store to developers who would like to produce software for the iPad directly, instead of porting apps hat were originally available for the iPhone. It was not immediately clear when Best Buy would open, or if limited locations would be doing a midnight opening for the launch.

Apple never revealed why they would only allow themselves to take preorders for the iPad. They have been communicating with the larger suppliers for several weeks trying to figure out how they can assist them with the launch strategies. Best Buy will be holding a few of the larger launches across the nation, and it has been speculated that they will also have a few midnight releases for the release of the new device. Representatives for Best Buy have not commented as to how they plan on launching a product that is guaranteed to be among the hottest selling items for the rest of the year.
