Storm Leaves Northeast Soggy

March 20, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

In an area of the United States that has been ravaged by blizzards in recent weeks, they now have to deal with torrential downpours as well. Early on Sunday morning a large storm system moved into the Northeastern part of the country. This storm brought very heavy rains, along with winds in some areas that reached up to seventy miles per hour.
There have been six deaths that have come from storm related accidents in recent weeks. The storm has left hundreds of thousands of people with electricity, and has brought down hundreds of trees and power lines across the Northeastern United States. This storm comes just two weeks after the region has had to deal with the largest and most dangerous blizzard that the area had seen for over fifteen nears.
With so many people in the dark due to power outages, many have taken to the supermarket in hopes of finding essential items that they may have been running low on due to spending so much time without power in recent weeks. While batteries and generators seem to be nonexistent in most stores around the Northeastern united states, many have also turned online to buy these products. The only problem now is how the delivery truck will make it to their location with hundreds of downed trees sitting on top of roads all over the region.
There has also been a significant amount of flooding throughout the region. Many of the roads appear as if they have small streams or creeks running right down the middle of them, while rivers have flooded their banks and begun to pour water all over the roadways throughout the region. While there have been no evacuations, many individuals who lived in areas where flooding is a serious problem have opted to stay out of their homes until the storm has passed and they can get a real feel for the damage that it has caused.
