Michael Jackson Estate Lands Largest Recording Deal Ever

March 17, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Although Michael Jackson may have passed away months ago, his estate continues to generate revenue far beyond the most liberal estimates that were given by experts after his passing. In the weeks following his death the Michael Jackson estate made more money than they had in the previous twenty years. Along with the selling of collectibles from his now famous Neverland Ranch, the estate also teamed up to put out the popular movie, “This is It.” The movie performed expectantly well at the box office, and was able to generate additional income for the Michael Jackson Estate. Today, the estate landed another record breaking deal that will allow the estate to put out unreleased Michael Jackson for years to come. This should come to the excitement of many of Michael’s long time fans.

The record deal, which reportedly runs through 2017, is supposed to be worth up to 250 million dollars. There are certain requirements that have to be met for the contract to be worth that much. Label representatives have stated that they do plan on releasing at least one full album of unreleased records that Jackson recorded between the release of his last album and the time of his death. Early estimates for the release of this album have it slated to be released as early as November. It has been rumored that there may be as many as 50 album ready tracks that Jackson recorded that have never been heard by the public and could potentially be released as albums over the course of the current contract that the Michael Jackson estate has reached agreement with.
After the success of some of the recent ventures involving the Michael Jackson estate, it is no surprise that the record deal is valued as high as it is. Jackson merchandise continues to fly off the shelves at a record pace.
